DualTherm 'Sound'

The reduction of transmitted sound into and within the occupied space of buildings and homes is an important design consideration.

Glass is one of many components that influence the acoustic performance of vertical wall glazing systems, windows and doors. DualTherm ‘Sound’ insulating glass units incorporate the latest SGG STADIP SILENCE® acoustic laminates that overcome the drop in the acoustic insulating performance of glass at the critical frequency.

Until recently, the acoustic performance of glazing was improved mainly by increasing the thickness and asymmetry of glass panes in double glazed units. Today, with the development of acoustic PVB laminates the critical frequency effect has been overcome.

The glass and frame together determine the acoustic insulation performance of the façade. The sound index for a window or façade can only be verified after testing the complete assembly. It is advisable to match the glass type to the frame. Top of the range acoustic laminates should be installed in high performance frames.
